1. Get Song Notes and Learn How to Read It
First get a book where you can see some notes. If you do not have that book you can also search flute notes in the internet but don't go far. - C stands for Do.
- D stands for Re.
- E stands for Mi.
- F stands for Fa.
- G stands for So.
- A stands for La and
- B stands for Ti.

3. Hold The Flute Properly
Hold your instrument and place your fingers properly. It hard to explain how it was done. It is best if we have some video tutorial but I have a low quality of camera an it is really bad. But I will try my best to explain it how. In positioning your fingers to the instrument.- On your right hand put it on the lower portion of the instrument. Use your four fingers the pointing finger, middle finger, ring finger, and the little finger. You will using these to cover the hole which corresponds to C, D, E, and F or the Do, Re, Mi, and Fa.
- Put your left hand on the upper part of the instrument and use your three fingers there. From pointing finger, middle finger, and the ring finger. You will using these and put on the holes of the G, A, and B or the So, La, and Ti.
- The two thumb fingers of your both hands, you will using it to hold and support the instument.
- Every letter have different positioning of fingers. Like for example for the C or Do, you will cover all the holes. For the key of D or the Re, cover all holes except for the last hole in the lower portion.
- For E or Mi, cover all holes except for the last 2 holes. For F or Fa cover all except for the last three holes. For G or So cover all except for the last four holes. For A or La cover all holes except for the last 5 holes. And for B or Ti, cover all holes except for the 6 last holes.
- Clarification, when the key start to goes up you will remove one finger in the hole. For C all fingers are in the hole and when it goes to D you remove one finger and so on.
- Placing finger may varies according to kind of flute you have. There are instructions to follow in the manual when you buy instrument so do not worry about.
4. Blow it The Right Way

- From the very first or the lowest part of the instrument have lower air needed. It is the C key or the Do. From that position it need more air pressure when the key goes up. The last part was the most need of air pressure which is the B key.
- When you play song with just low notes it needs little air as you can hear a beautiful sounds. And song with high notes need high air pressure.
- If you are a beginner play song like ABC, Twinkle Twinkle or songs for beginners as it is slowly and very easy to play. When you learn more and you know properly how to read and to place your finger you can proceed to high level.
5. Playing With Difficult Keys
- When you are playing flute instrument you will notice that there are difficult keys with # like C#, D#. Sharp is what we called on that. These key are the half notes.
- If you remember in your school in music there are whole note, half note, quarter note, eight note and the sixteenth note. Sharp is the half note of a whole. When you are placing your fingers on the flute, you will cover it half. You will not cover it in hole.
- When you do it properly you can hear that it is the same on what you are playing.
